Course Description

Concepts, methods, and research for creating a collaborative online community of practice. Essential topics about how to facilitate discussion forums, including hands-on experience using asynchronous and synchronous communication technologies.

You will

  • design discussion questions, learn conflict resolution skills, understand netiquette, take a hands-on approach to problem solving using scenarios, simulations, and case study.

  • analyze how to foster interaction and promote online collaboration using online collaborative tools like chat, Google HangOuts, Skype, and Zoom.

  • discuss time management strategies, pitfalls to avoid when facilitating online group projects.

  • explore summative assessment and formative feedback tools to analyze, assess, and encourage learner discussion board participation.
