Deadlines Throughout the Year

October 1 - New FAFSA
Next year's Free Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA) is available online.
March 1 - Summer School Financial Aid
Summer Financial Aid Application will be available when summer registration begins.
March 15 - FAFSA should be filed by now
UW-Stout's priority filing date for the FAFSA.
April 15 - Tax Deadline
Tax deadline with the IRS. Keep copies of your tax documents, which may be needed by the Financial Aid Office.
Late May - Satisfactory Academic Progress

Financial aid recipients undergo what is called Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). Generally, this means that financial aid recipients must be completing at least 67% of all credits attempted and maintain at least a 2.0 GPA.

May, June, July - Entrance Counseling & MPN
New Direct Stafford loan borrowers must complete entrance counseling online at
Early August - Bill
Billing statements for fall are e-mailed from the Business Office with payment plan information.
Early September - Credit and Refund
Fall financial aid is credited to your account and any remaining funds after these charges are paid will be returned to the student in the form of a refund. Refunds will be automatically sent to student's bank account, unless specified otherwise.
Late December
Satisfactory Academic Progress is measured and warning letters are sent for financial aid recipients failing to complete 67% of all credits attempted or maintain a 2.0 GPA.
