The Custodial Services Department maintains an environment conducive to the higher education of the students attending UW-Stout.

Our Responsibilities

  • Perform custodial work requested through the TMA iServiceDesk
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment in all Academic buildings on campus
  • Opening and closing of most building entrances and general classrooms
  • Collection, storage, and shipment of recyclable, compostable, and landfill materials from all Academic buildings
  • Moves for departments related to remodeling projects
  • Setups and teardowns for various campus functions
  • Delivery of supplies and materials throughout campus



The recycling program began in 1991 with a pilot program in three buildings. The department currently collects recyclable materials from all Academic buildings across campus.

Items collected include; glass, steel, aluminum, plastic, mixed paper, corrugated cardboard, polystyrene, shrink wrap, toner cartridges, lead acid batteries, dry cell batteries, waste tires, waste oil, pallets, scrap metal and wood, major appliances, fluorescent light tubes, CFLs, and power plant ash. Small yard waste is composted on campus and larger items are taken to off campus collection points.

Centralized containers are in all buildings for collection of recyclable, compostable, and landfill materials.
