Computer Use Policies

The library provides public access to computers in accordance with University policy: Information Technology Acceptable Use Policy.

Stout community members can use library computers logging on with their campus e-mail username/password. 

Other qualified users may use the computers by registering and being logged on by a library staff member. Please contact the Access to Learning, Circulation or Reference desks for assistance. By signing the Public Computer Log Form you are agreeing to adhere to the policies noted above.

Library computers are made available to support research. Individuals using computers for non-research related e-mail, chat or games may be asked to relinquish the computer. 



All public computers print to the printers located in the Reference Area.

Laptop users can use the Add a Library Printer link on the library's homepage to print to the library printers.

Payment is only with UWStout-ID flexline or baseline plus or a visitor card. Dollar bills can be added or a visitor card purchased at the Value Transfer Station located on the blue column near the Reference/ALD desk

  • Black and white laser printers cost 10 cents per page 
  • Color laser printer cost 20 per page

Group Study Rooms

Rooms 111A, 113, 117, 118, 119, 302, 303, 402, 403, 430E, 502 and 503 are set up as group study rooms.  All group study rooms have screen sharing capability in them via AirMedia devices.  Directions for connecting to the screen are posted in each room. All rooms have large TVs except rooms 111A and 430E which have video projectors.  Remotes for the video projectors can be checked out at the Circulation desk on the first floor.
